Kurzweil VOICE for Windows Release 2.0 is the latest version of this award-winning voice recognition system. Kurzweil VOICE for Windows Release 2.0 incorporates a breakthrough continuous number recognizer that enables the user to enter numbers, dates, and other numerical data more efficiently. The system also comes with a new discrete speech recognition engine that provides an error rate reduction of up to 40%, compared with previous versions of the product.

Using Kurzweil VOICE for Windows, you can combine speech with the keyboard and the mouse to develop an easy and natural approach to personal computing. Kurzweil VOICE for Windows supports voice input for navigation, which drives the Windows operating system and Windows-based applications on a command and control basis, and dictation, which enables the user to create text and enter data simply by speaking.

Users can choose either a 60,000-word or a 30,000-word active vocabulary. Kurzweil VOICE Release 2.0 incorporates a new version of Kurzweil AIs very large vocabulary, speaker-independent speech recognition engine that now combines discrete dictation with continuous number technology. Kurzweil VOICE also has on-line knowledge, including acoustic recognition models and spellings, for a total of 200,000 words.

Kurzweil VOICE for Windows is easy to install, learn, and use. No training of the system on the users voice is required, and Kurzweil VOICE for Windows can be used immediately upon installation. It automatically adapts to your speech and language patterns over time, boosting ongoing recognition accuracy to 95% or above, with easy error correction.

You can voice-enable just about any Windows application with Kurzweil VOICE for Windows. In addition to word-processing, you can enter data into a spreadsheet, develop presentations, update databases, and dictate e-mail messages.

How much memory do I need to run Kurzweil VOICE?

For the 30,000 word vocabulary option, you need 8 MB of DEDICATED RAM.

For the 60,000 word vocabulary option, you need 16 MB of DEDICATED RAM.

This does not include the memory required for Windows applications and the operating system. Applications and operating systems typically require 4-8 MB of RAM. Consequently, you will need a total of 12-16 MB of RAM for a 30,000 word vocabulary; or a total of 20-24 MB of RAM for a 60,000 word vocabulary.

How many words can I add? Do you provide specialized vocabularies?

• Kurzweil VOICE for Windows provides the following vocabulary options: A 60,000 word vocabulary that consists of 40,000 speaker independent words, with the ability to add 20,000 more words. A 30,000 word vocabulary that consists of 20,000 speaker independent words, with the ability to add 10,000 more words.
• Kurzweil VOICE for Windows also provides a Command Editor that lets you add additional words and commands to your specific applications.
• Kolvox Communications provides applications with a legal vocabulary: Kolvox Communications, Inc.

How can I ensure good voice recognition?

• Always turn off your microphone when you are away from your desk or not speaking. You can turn off your microphone in any of the following ways: use the ctrl-alt keystroke say the Kurzweil VOICE for Windows commands listen-to-me and stop-listening --use your mouse to click on the microphone on/off indicator located on the Kurzweil VOICE Center
• If you hear a buzzing noise in your headset, you are sitting too close to your monitor. Sit at least one foot away from the monitor. The buzzing noise can corrupt your voice profile.
