MBS 8.0 Intitial Release

MBS Version 8.0 General Installation Instructions
NOTE: If your current MBS version is 5.1f, you must format and print/send claims
before installing this update!
- PERFORM A COMPLETE MONTHLY BACKUP BEFORE INSTALLING THIS OR ANY UPDATE!
- Insert disk labeled #1 in drive A: and close drive door.
- Use the key to exit out to your operating system (F:\MBS# prompt for Networks or C:\MBS
for Single Users).
- Type: A:INSTALL and press the key.
- When the menu appears, select Option 1 (To Install Update). DO NOT select any other
option! Type 1 and press the key.
- Enter the drive that you are installing from. For example: A:, and press the key.
- If prompted, enter the drive path to install update disk(s) programs to. This should be
drive and path where MBS programs reside. For example, F:\MBS and press the key.
- As prompted, please insert each disk and press the key.
- At the "Update Disk(s) Installation completed!" message, press the key to
exit. NOTE: If your current MBS version is 5.1g, you must format claims again
IMMEDIATELY after installing the update! Print/send any batches formatted to the screen,
then perform an MBS Hard Disk Cleanup on each workstation. These claims are a result of a
clean-up process to increase the speed of MBS claim formatting, and are not to be filed!
- Type ROOT (or bring up your MBS access menu). Access MBS as usual and check the version
number on the password screen. If the version number is "8.0 8.0-S", the update
installation was successful. If any other numbers or letters appear on the password
screen, call MBS technical support immediately. You have completed your MBS Update disk
installation.
Please make sure to file update disks in a safe place for future reference and insert
the documentation into your MBS manual.
MBS Version 8.0-Upgrading the Referring Physician Table
NOTE: You must verify that the format of your referring physician table entries
Name field format is LASTNAME, FIRSTNAME. This conversion should NOT be run if
the format is not LASTNAME, FIRSTNAME. If the format is NOT LASTNAME, FIRSTNAME, you must
manually update each record entry to split the field into the new two fields (lastname,
firstname). Or call our support line if you need assistance in determining the format you
have.
- YOU SHOULD HAVE A CURRENT BACKUP OF THE MBS DATABASE FILES BEFORE PROCEEDING!
- You should have already installed the MBS 8.0 Update Only disks.
- Use the key to exit out to your operating system (F:\MBS1 or F:\MBS2 ... prompt for
Networks or C:\MBS for Single Users).
- Type: MBS UP80REF.EXE and press the key.
- Please wait while the conversion process is working.
- At the Process completed, PRESS ANY KEY message, press the key to exit.
- Type ROOT (or bring up your MBS access menu). Access MBS as usual and check the
Referring Physician table entries for a couple of records to make sure the last name and
first name field are properly assigned. If any errors occurred during the conversion or
the last, first name fields appear incorrect, call MBS technical support immediately.
You
have completed your MBS 8.0 File Conversion.
Recover your Attending Phys. Supplement File
If you are going to be using Electronic Claims in the New NSF standard
you must at this point recover you Attending Phys. Suppl. File. Choose 7 for maint. from
the main menu, next choose 4 for file recovery. The Attending Phys. Suppl. is the last
selection in the bottom of the yellow box. Recover this file BEFROE entering records into
it. (i.e. adding records for E08, E09, etc.) Please refer to Appendix A-7 of your manual
for information on setting up this table.
