Release Notes for MBS 8.0 Intitial Release |
The print Charge Slip feature (Shift F1 from Demographics) has been expanded to allow multiple charge slips per practice profile. MBS allows up to 4 different CHARGE1.LYT, CHARGE2.LYT,..., ETC. customizable field based forms. These forms can comprise daily charge tickets and other forms like workers comp. progress reports.

Statement formatting process turns accounts over to the In-House Collections billing schedule as needed. MBS now besides reporting this within the Statement Diagnostic Messages, also compiles a specific list of accounts turned over to collections. The file is opened in the current user directory under the filename of COLYMMDD.DGN. Where Y is the year. e.g. 6 for 1997. Where MMDD is the month and day the statement formatting process was run. This list can be viewed/printed from within the Billing Menus Print Diagnostic Messages option.

New custom form P17 specially for certain Managed Care Organization now requiring Box 9.11b and 9.11c to be used to specify employers name and plan name. Use the demographics address 2 name field to enter the employer/school name. Use the payer code table address 2 field to enter the Plan Name. This Plan Name should include the administration entity name e.g. ETHIX followed by two slashes e.g. //, followed by the Managed Care Organization name e.g. S.P.H.N. For example: under Affordable payer code, address 2 should show ETHIX PPO // SPHN. NOTE: you do not have to follow this convention but we highly recommend it.

[Ctrl F5] LogVoic Function was added to serve as interface between MBS and a patient transcription voice recognition Kurzweil System. When invoked a file MBSLOGV.REC is opened in the database files directory. A single line record is written to the end of this file in the format of Pat# (8 char) (1 space) Last name (15 char) (1 space) Middle Initial (1 char).

The Place of Service Code table has been expanded to meet the new Medicare Codes. Now the setup for the table is on two screens. Using [F5] you can toggle between the pages and setup codes G-V.

Print Statements/Claims/Send E Claims Facility All three of these facilities now have the ability to page up/down through the available files to print. The user can use the PgUp/PgDn keys or the defined F5Up/F6Down function keys.

New report added to the new Reporting Facility Menu Analysis Section option B5. This report has the same look as the existing Receipts Summary Listing Report. The difference is that credits are matched back to charges. Charges are selected based on the date of service. Payments, adjustments, write offs, discounts, etc. are match according to the invoice number back to their corresponding charges (so that these credits are relevant to the report only if those charges date of service is within the datespan in question). These report provides an accurate reimbursement trend.

Referring Physician Table, Name field had to be split into a last name field of 15 characters, a first name field of 10 characters and a middle initial field of one character. This was necessary to meet electronic claim national standard requirements.

The Reporting Facility has been reorganized. All reports were grouped into six major functions. All six groups are shown under one screen for ease of access.
This new format also marks reports by the method used to generate its figures. This way your can clearly identify all reports who should balance to each other. As a bonus the reports were modified to print the practice name at the top of each page.

When entering a time using [F10] you can now enter a 00:00a to delete a time that is already set.

By following these easy steps, a user can setup MBS 8.0 as an icon inside of Windows 3.1. The 8.0 update includes the icon file needed to setup MBS 8.00 in Windows 3.1.

The [Shift F2] function available from within the charge entry facility has been added to the payment entry facility as well. This internal notes function allows you to enter Statement, internal or recall notes at patient check out. The invoice split option was changed from Shift F2 hot key to Alt F2.

A new option was added to the walk out receipt. The option affects whether the client would like the walk out receipt to include all procedure and diagnosis detail or not. The field Detail? defaults to yes so the functionality of walk out receipt is not affected. But if a client wishes to provide a walk out receipt without the CPTs, ICD-9s and their corresponding descriptions, the user can set this field to N.
