Medical Business System Information for 8.0
- Reporting Facility has been reorganized. All reports were grouped into six major
functions. All six groups are shown under one screen for ease of access.
- This new format also marks reports by the method used to generate its figures. This way
your can clearly identify all reports who should balance to each other.
- All reports under the new reporting facility were modified to print the practice name as
shown under billing practice name in the MBS Practice Profile at the top of each
page in each report.
- All reports under the new reporting facility were provided with an on-line report
description help option. By pressing Shift F9 a help text file is displayed to the screen.
This text file includes a report description, each restriction option, sort options and
column descriptions In some cases a suggested use is also provided.
- All reports under the new reporting facility now show date and time it was generated at
the top of each page.
- A new Analysis Reports options is now included to provide with a set of
practice analysis options. The purpose of these reports are to provided of up to date
tools to analyze your practice collection effectiveness and reimbursement trends of the
numerous Managed Care contracts, subcontracts and other carriers.
- National Standard Format Electronic Claims format. These release brings your system up
to date on the continuing changes due to state and federal mandates since MBS 7.0
release. These changes also include new states added to the MBS supported list. The
states of Wyoming, North Dakota and Texas (THIN) were specially affected by changes. This
release is required for those states to continue to submit electronically. The state of
Kentucky is also affected but MBS has not been approved for submission under the
new changes. Kentucky clients are required to go through that states testing process again
before approval for production claims under NSF format. Any other states interested in
submitting using the NSF format are encouraged to begin testing as soon as you receive
your MBS 8.0 update.
- The two digit place of service table as required by Medicare was expanded from 16 codes
to a two page format to include 32 codes. This is to satisfy increased code demand from
certain specialties.
- SOAP Medical Records was improved to support an unlimited number of daily records. These
daily records can also be printed from within the Account Status Report for account follow
up.
- Resource scheduler template editing was improved. A desired time slot can be unassigned
on demand.
- We are also including a new Documentation Appendix to deal with Managed Care. This
documentation was compiled after careful consultation with several specialties and how
they would like to see figures to effectively negotiate their managed care contracts. The
basic approach suggested in the documentation is to use the billing schedule table to
identify managed care contracts. The procedure code table was modified to key

- Recall Notes facility improved to display name of patient when user changes patient
without exiting the facility.
- MBS can now run under a DOS shell in Windows 3.1, Windows 95 and OS-2. This
release provides the MBS ICON file and specific support for MBS setup under
a Windows environment.
Keep in mind that installation of the MBS version 8.0 update diskettes is a one way
process and you must accept all changes in order to update.
