Installing your MBS32 Software

STEP 1 - Preparation:

Make a list of all MBS32 future users (people to use MBS32). Make a list of all clients (workstation computers) that will be connecting to the MBS32 database files.
Choose one computer to act as the Server computer (ADMIN computer). The server computer usually holds the MBS32 shared database files in its hard-drive. The best definition though is to decide which physical computer will perform all database administration. The server computer will be the one used to administer all aspects of MBS32. For example, the server computer will run the MBS32 ADMINistration program to setup new users, new practices, new clients, etc.

DO A COMPLETE BACKUP of your existing MBS system and of your C:\Windows\System directory and sub-directories. **IMPORTANT**

STEP 2 - DOWNLOADING the software onto the Server (Administration computer):

The most convenient way to install MBS32 is to connect to our web site www.hdata.com and click on download. The download page contains:

Support Dynamic Link Libraries needed for installation and setup VBRUN60.EXE 1MB
MBS32 Workstation Installation MBS32wks.EXE 12MB
MBS32 Resource Scheduler and Reporting Programs MBS32rs.EXE 1.2
MBS32 Server Side Administration Package MBS32SA.EXE 3.2MB
MBS32 Server Side Programs Package MBS32SP.EXE 4.6MB
MBS32 Client Side Package MBS32CL.EXE 2.5MB

Download all files listed above onto the Server. Use the server physical drive (F: for NOVELL networks, or C: for pier-to-pier networks like Windows and WinNT. Use the directory path \MBS32.

NOVELL servers: should use "F:\MBS32\" or similar as the destination application path. (Default)

Other pier-to-pier networks: we recommend you use C:\MBS32\ as the destination application path.

STEP 3 - Setup Server for MBS32:

NOTE: On any "Access violation" messages on DLL files, write down the name of the file and choose <Ignore>. On any "Newer version exists" messages on DLL files, write down the name of the file and choose to keep the newer version.
