THIN Updated Protocol Required to Submitt Tx E-Claims

Submission to Texas Health Information Network (THIN) via the Kermit protocol will be changing as of April 1st 1997. This change by Blue Cross, will require all users currently submitting electronic claims from Medical Business System 8.0 via the Kermit Protocol, to change to a protocol supported by PCPLUS, such as Zmodem with PKZip compression. HealthData Resources will upgrading the MBS software to reflect these changes by Blue Cross Blue Shield. However, before you can upgrade your system, you must make sure your hardware and DOS system can support the upgrade. The upgrade will require users to operate in Windows 95 as our transmission program is available only in Windows 95. Please call technical support if you have questions about your hardware and compatibility with Windows 95.

This change in submissions protocol will make eclaims much faster, you should experience fewer disconnects and Blue Cross promises no busy signals. This all will lead to future options for EOB downloading and posting to accounts. This change has been mandated by Blue Cross Blue Shield and all users must be upgraded and transmitting by April 1st as no claims will be accepted by THIN via the Kermit method after that date. To facilitate this upgrade users should complete the attached form and submit it to Provider Support at 972-766-1043, as soon as possible.
