Select is enthusiastic over the potential of installing this system as we have every confidence that it will help the hospital quickly determine the many benefits associated with the IVT system. Our enthusiasm for this project is supported by the fact that Select is making available all hardware required for the project at below a typical rental cost. The full value of the hardware, software, and services associated with this trial would normally be well in excess of $180,000.00 - all provided as
a $6,000.00 per month rental.The system will provide full interactive services to the forty televisions, including the ability to provide on-demand video services and automated television rental. The hospital shall have the ability to do customized pre and post program testing, surveys relating to quality of patient care or food services, etc. The system will be provided with the ISE authoring tool that will allow the hospital to create additional customized interactive applications. For the test period, the forty televisions will not be interfaced with the hospital ADT system. There is no technical reason for not providing an interface to the ADT system, but it is an attempt to minimize the costs associated with the test system. The system will provide for 4 channels of on-demand education, 1 marquee and 1 background channel. The source of video programming shall be from Digital Video Files (MPEG-1). Select will provide 20 hours of encoding services to convert VHS videos to digital video files.

If within the six months of the rental the hospital purchases the IVT system, Select will credit 30% of rental charges back to the hospitals purchase of the full system.
Hardware Specifications
The coaxial cable in the location of the twenty Television Controllers involved in the test should be wired in a "home-run" configuration, and shall be capable of two way communications at IVT’s required frequencies. Select shall be responsible for the installation of the forty televisions and the twenty Television Controllers. The host computer is to be located in the direct vicinity of the forty television locations, and will be moved to a more appropriate location should hospital acquire a full IVT system.
