Interface to ADM systems.
Since the TV in each patient room becomes an interface to the computer network system, environmental services personnel are able to indicate that a room has been cleaned or needs maintenance.  Using the text interaction mode of the IVT system 3,000+ bed sides can communicate with the IVT server Simultaneously!  A very unique feature that our competition can not provide without excessive, non-productive, expense.

Bandwidth n. -  the limiting factor of the Internet.
The DGA information system avoids the bandwidth barrier is by using a bandwidth segment on the hospitals existing television cable system to network smart televisions and computer systems.  This unique topology allows more than 3,000 televisions to access questionnaires, menuing and communication functions simultaneously.

Patient education programs delivered 24 hours a day.

Patients and staff may use IVT’s video on-demand feature to view educational programming at times and locations that will provide the most benefit. Every television will have full control over playing devices such as VCR’s, Video "Juke Boxes", Laser Disk Players, CD-ROM, or Digital Video Servers. Each television can provide Start/Stop, Fast Forward/Reverse, and Pause functions, with the devices located in a secured central location.  To assist meeting the requirements of JCAHO, IVT can be used to both document the delivery of educational video programming, and to develop program specific testing and result reporting.

Multimedia -
The New Education Medium

Delivered by TV cable or the Intranet

While the Internet today is constrained by the limits of available bandwidth the DGA Intranet, running over the hospital television cable plant, is relatively unbound by telephone bandwidth constraints.  This allows high performance, bandwidth intensive information to be delivered directly to the patient television.   Multimedia productions (such as those produced with Macromedia's Director™) are displayed in the web browser on the patients TV and patient mouse control is allowed via the TV remote control.

New multimedia productions to be deployed.

  1. Robby goes to the Hospital
  2. Explore, The Virtual Medical Center
  3. Orthopedic Knee Surgery
  4. Your Tonsil & Adenoid Surgery,
    Preoperative information for Tonsillectomy
  5. A Family with Cancer

JCAHO education
Coherence with JCAHO education standards is made easier because ISE lets hospitals implement their own Post Educational Video Testing Program that can be easily tailored or modified as required.  Educators will not only know and have documented that a patient or staff member viewed a particular video, but also be able to determine and have documented how much of the educational program was understood by the viewer.

Hospitals can create their own Patient or Quality Assurance Surveys, and follow up on negative responses before patients are discharged, thereby increasing patient satisfaction with the services received during their hospital stay.

On-Demand Education and Entertainment Programs can be easily implemented with program selections changed as frequently as required without incurring additional costs of time delays.  On-Demand is of particular value to staff members who may now view mandatory video programs at times and locations best suited to individual needs.

ISE allows hospitals to create many other applications that can take advantage of the two way communications pathway to every IVT equipped television on the network.  This increases the quality of hospital services to both patients and staff members.

Improve compliance with JCAHO & OSHA
  • Improve services required by regulatory agencies by monitoring their delivery.
  • Improve services to meet increasing demands of the health care industry.
  • deliver the staff education necessary, from in-house resources, to provide the highest quality of care.
  • staff education availability around-the-clock .
  • Drastically decrease training time and improve retention.
  • Reduce staff training costs.
  • Improve documentation with automated reporting for JCAHO and other regulatory agencies.

Security for Sensitive Transmissions

IVT does not rely on television channels for data communications. Channel based systems allow any television that might be tuned to the channel over which data is being transmitted, to view that data. Instead IVT sends digital data to a specific television or group of televisions, thereby providing the level of security required for sensitive or confidential data.
