The Interactive Video Technology (IVT)
Development Environment
IVT is a rapid development environment to deliver flexible and scalable applications, bring people and information together and increase productivity, and give a competitive advantage

Use your existing television cable plant to provide television services, educational services, and communication between hospital information systems.

The cable television plant is used to provide networking services between staff computers and  administrative staff stations and the Windows NT  operating.

Because of IVT’s open system design, and Windows based software, hospital staff involvement is significantly reduced when developing interfaces with HL7 ADT Systems, Dietary Management Systems, and Third Party Billing Systems. Interfaces are straightforward and far less costly than those developed to interface with systems that utilize "proprietary software". IVT does not rely on television channels for data communications. Channel based systems allow any television that might be tuned to the channel over which data is being transmitted, to view that data. Instead IVT sends digital data to a specific television or group of televisions, thereby providing the level of security required for sensitive or confidential data

Interactive Video Controller (IVC) 98
Audio/Video Distribution
IVC 98 is a computerized Audio/Video distribution system and presentation generator which allows schools, hospitals, training centers and institutions to schedule and distribute videos and presentation pages over the in-house cable television system.   From a single keyboard and mouse, IVC 98 allows manual or automatic (scheduled) control of various devices such as VCR's, Laser Disc players, and Media Players.  IVC 98 utilizes the host computer as the Scheduler and Presentation Editor, as will as a player of multi-media presentations.  With IVC 98, a single PC now acts both as the host computer and as a Media Player.  This allows us to eliminate one Media Player, making IVC 98 more competitively priced with other companies' offerings while continuing to provide significantly more functionality and features.  In addition, IVC 98 can easily be expanded to meet hospitals' changing needs, with no equipment obsolescence.

Digital Media Players
IVC 98 will also control Digital Media Players, each capable of playing a minimum of 3-4 hours of MPEG-1 programming.  Video sources and user-created presentation pages in PowerPoint can be scheduled to play at specified times on designated channels.  Take video signals from Satellite Receivers, Live Camera Feeds, Teleconferencing Equipment, etc., and distribute them over the television system.   One IVC 98 video switch will control up to 14 video devices, and connect any of the devices' output to any or all of 6 output channels.  IVC 98 flexibility allows a virtually unlimited number of configurations.  The system can be easily expanded to control more devices and provide additional inputs and outputs.  To ensure ease of use, all presentations, message page creation, device control, and scheduling, are performed using a single keyboard and mouse.  With minimal training, anyone with Windows 95/98 experience will be able to take advantage of IVC 98's many features.

IVC 98 provides everything necessary to easily show professional looking message pages that can incorporate video, text, stereo sound, clip art, and animation. Great looking presentations and messages are easily created using the included presentation software

IVC 98 is compatible with both Audio/Video baseband or CATV RF broadband television systems

Interactive Video Controller
IVT is an interactive television system designed specifically for hospitals. IVT utilizes Windows 95 or Windows NT software to automate the delivery of a wide variety of entertainment, education and information services to patients and staff. Because IVT is designed to operate over existing coaxial cable systems, the time, materials, and costs required for installation are kept to a minimum.

With IVT, hospitals can provide fully automated entertainment television services to patients 24 hours a day, without the requirement of staff. Patients can view educational programming at no charge, or at the hospital’s option, provide tiered television rental services from sources such as cable, satellite/DBS broadcasts, or on a pay-per-view basis. Where service is available, cash collection in the hospital can be eliminated by interfacing IVT to third party invoice and collection companies. All entertainment charges are sent to these companies electronically, for collection on the patient’s home telephone bill.

When connected to the "Smart Port" of healthcare televisions from Zenith, R.C.A., and Philips, IVT allows 100% of the televisions to simultaneously provide interactive services. IVT also works with arm mounted televisions, that can co-exist with "Smart Port" televisions on the same network.

Interactive Screen Editor (ISE)

The Interactive Screen Editor (ISE), is a software authoring tool. When used in conjunction with the IVT interactive television system, ISE allows hospitals to easily develop or modify their own interactive television applications. ISE is Windows 95 or Windows NT compatible, and provides a familiar Windows environment with many of the File, Edit, Format, Tools and Help features found in most Microsoft programs.

At the application host computer, ISE users simply type in the text they want displayed on the television, and assign what action is to occur when a patient or staff member makes a selection from the choices presented on the television screen. For example, actions could be, go to the next question, or start an educational or entertainment video, or return to regular TV viewing. ISE allows end users to define what is presented on the television, and what action is to occur when there is a response from the patient or staff member using the television as an interactive terminal.

The Interactive Screen Editor (ISE) supplied with IVT, utilizes familiar word processing type features to allow hospitals to easily create their own questionnaires, surveys, and other interactive applications. Hospitals will no longer be required to use the costly services of interactive television vendors, with associated implementation delays, to develop or modify applications.

Digital File Server Video on Demand

The Future Has Arrived.

Introducing a cost-effective way to deliver video-on-demand (VOD).  And do it using your cable network. You'll expand services and attract new business.

The Interactive Video Technology (IVT) is a complete, integrated, end-to-end solution. The price, performance, and reliability are unparalleled in the industry.

Integrated and Ready to Go.
The IVT System is built to make VOD a widespread reality. Open Cable standards ensure interoperability, low costs, and smooth integration. The System is fully integrated with the Microsoft NT platform, and works as a real-time two-way network and with your intelligent TVs.  Bandwidth allocation is managed by the digital servers and there are minimal proprietary computer network components. You can track usage of the latest movies, educational material, programming and (optionally) can provide comprehensive billing.  From headend to viewers, the System is complete.

The Right Business Decision.
The "buy rates" for VOD are proven by early trials around the world and the well known video rental market. Our System can rapidly produces a positive cash flow by providing an array of advanced services to digital subscribers.

Fault Resilience, Because There's No time for Downtime.
Around-the-clock reliability calls for fault resilience of 99.997%. You get it with the patented MediaCluster (optional) server technology.  A MediaCluster is comprised of multiple computers (each known as a node) directly linked in a high-speed mesh architecture to function as a single server. Even a major system failure-like the loss of an entire node-causes no interruption for the viewing audience. Redundant inputs and outputs give you additional security. As do redundant power supplies. All VOD management software has built-in failsafes to maximize subscriber reliability.

Engineered for Flexibility and Scalability.
We designed flexibility into the System. It meets DVB or ASI standards for digital television and supports various bit-rate encoding. It provides distributed network support, and centralized or local content management. Locating the server at your headend or at distributed hubs, and support 5,000 VOD subscribers with just one standard rack. And the System is scalable, so you can easily expand to meet exploding demand. You can serve hundreds of users-or millions.

Single Copy Store.
Our unique RAID2 ("RAID squared") and MediaCluster technology use data striping and parity techniques across disks in a node but also across multiple nodes in a server. This allows you to deliver simultaneous playouts of the same material, with different start times, all from a single digital copy. This also delivers fault resilience so if a disk or a node fails, the video plays on. This innovation solves the storage and data management challenges of VOD.

This is Going to Click with Your Patients.
Users will appreciate the VCR-like functionality: fast-forward, pause, rewind, skip backward, skip forward. And they'll love the Movies on Demand (browsing titles and categories-even watching previews), News on Demand, Sports on Demand, Interactive Shopping, and more are all available. You can also develop applications with standard APIs like Banking on Demand and Shopping.

The Time is Right for video-on-demand.
You have the cable television system. You have the patients and staff. The demand for interactive television is here. The technology is real and ready. The return-on-investment (ROI) justify the investment. The only question is, when do you want to reap the rewards?
