Web Friends is designed as an Internet Resource for Hospitalized Children. We hope others will want their local hospital, school and other care facilities to install this resource. Please take the Web Friends .html, specifications, and CU-SeeMe files for your own use. We only ask that your inform us of your URL and provide a link to this site so the network of isolated children can grow. Please, inform others they may download the Web Friends information and files from this site.

Getting Setup

In addition to the files in the above zip file you will need the following hardware and software.

Network

IP Address: The hospital end of Web Friends must have a static IP and this information will need to be modified in the *.cu files from our site. Check out the specifications page for more information on setting up the parameters.

PC Requirements

Hardware

The following is needed at both ends of the connection.

  • A 486 processor with a 66mhz clock or better
  • 10 MB of hard isk space
  • 8 MB of RAM minimum
  • Sound Card (Full duplex is suggested)
  • A set of PC speakers
  • A microphone of some type.
  • 28,8 modem or better.

Software

  • Windows 3.1, Windows NT, or Windows 95
  • TCP/IP (Winsock Compliant)-This is some type of conection software to the internet, Windows 95 comes with this in the form of "Dial-up" networking. If you use Windows 3.1, any Internet package should contain the needed dialer.
  • Connectix QuickCam or similar video device.
  • Enhanced CU-SeeMe-You can buy this off the shelve or download a version from the Internet.
