How to Use Regulatory AI Citations
Regulatory AI citations provide transparency and traceability by linking AI-generated responses to their source documents. Users can view individual source citations, download citation summaries, and navigate directly to referenced text within source documents.
Viewing Citations
Citations are displayed alongside AI responses and include:
- The name of each document used to generate the response.
- The specific text referenced from each document.
Citations appear automatically with each new prompt and remain visible throughout your session. Citations can be found under Answer Details, Sources, or Citations. Watch the video for a guide to viewing citations.
Downloading Citations
Regulatory AI allows you to view individual citations or download all citations for an entire session. Watch the video below for a guide to downloading citations or follow the steps below:
- Click the Download button in the top right of your screen and select “Download All Citation”.
- Wait for the download to process—keep your browser open until the file is ready.
- Once complete, you’ll receive a zipped folder containing:
- Citation Summary Document – Lists each question, response, source file name, and specific citations. Citations are labeled in a [number.letter] format corresponding with the citations in the source documents.
- Source Documents – PDF copies of the referenced files, with highlighted citations for easy navigation.
Tip: Open source documents in a PDF reader like Adobe Acrobat Reader to quickly access and navigate all citations.
Navigating Citations in Source Documents
The downloaded citation summary allows users to jump directly to referenced text in source documents. This feature enhances efficiency, making it easier to verify AI-generated responses.
Frequently Asked Questions
The downloaded summary document says, "Unable to determine exact location" below a citation. What does this mean?
“Unable to determine exact location” means the cited source and text are provided in the summary document, but the specific text could not be labeled within the source document. This can occur when images, tables, or certain design elements are present, or when the source document is a non-PDF file. Future iterations of AI Citations will address this limitation.
